We are continuing preparations for our initial South African programme and welcome interest from learners, mentors, sponsors and industry partners.

The Learner Journey

The planned South Africa pilot is designed to combine practical managed service provider (MSP) learning, structured pathways, mentorship, certification readiness, and career preparation.

How the Program Is Planned

Ubuntu intends to build a structured pilot journey from MSP foundations to technical and professional learning. Practical exercises and conversations with experienced professionals are intended to help learners connect knowledge with service-delivery environments. The activities described below illustrate the model; final delivery will depend on program development and confirmed resources.

Program Status:The pilot has not launched. Interest registration is open, but formal applications are not. Eligibility, capacity, duration, schedules, costs, and participating professionals and organizations are still being finalized. No exam funding, certification, interview, or employment outcome is guaranteed.

1. Interest & Orientation

Register interest to receive program updates. The planned orientation is intended to introduce MSP work, explain participation expectations, and help learners understand the learning journey. Application and selection details will be communicated separately.

  • Interest registration (not an application)
  • Participant selection (details to be determined)
  • Planned introduction to MSP work and learning expectations

2. MSP Foundations

MSP Foundations is intended as a shared starting point: understanding managed IT services, common workflows, and the communication that supports effective client service. Final modules are still being developed.

  • The MSP Business Model & SLAs
  • Ticketing, Time Tracking & Documentation
  • Customer Service Empathy in IT

3. Technical Learning Pathways

The planned technical pathways are designed to build practical knowledge in areas such as help desk support, networks, cloud services, and security. Guided exercises, troubleshooting scenarios, and documentation tasks are examples of activities the program may use; tools and resources will depend on confirmed agreements.

  • Develop technical knowledge through structured learning pathways
  • Connect technical topics with common MSP service workflows
  • Practice through guided activities where suitable resources are available

4. Mentorship

Mentorship is planned to connect technical learning with real-world experience. Experienced technology professionals can help learners understand workplace expectations, different roles, and professional development. The mentor network and format are still being developed; matching is not guaranteed.

  • Professional perspectives on technology roles and day-to-day work
  • Individual conversations or group discussions as illustrative formats
  • Technical guidance and reflection on professional expectations

5. Certification Readiness

Certification readiness is part of the intended model. It means understanding relevant certification options, connecting learning with their knowledge areas, and preparing toward third-party requirements where appropriate—not receiving a certification from Ubuntu.

  • Guidance on relevant certification pathways and preparation options
  • Preparation resources and practice activities where available
  • Certification choices vary by learner; exam funding and vouchers are not guaranteed

6. Career Preparation

Career preparation is intended to help learners understand technology workplaces and communicate their skills. Examples of activities the program may use include résumé preparation, interview practice, and conversations about MSP roles. These are educational activities, not recruitment or placement services.

  • Professional communication and understanding service-delivery expectations
  • Practice describing technical knowledge and experience
  • Any future employer visibility would be voluntary and require learner consent; no talent pool is operating
